Wow did we cover a lot this week! We started with a rant from Bob on the near instant ban of flavored vape juice products in the wake of 7 deaths and still nothing to be done about guns in this country! We then moved on to discuss the recent iPhone 11 and the iPhone Pro - as you can imagine, neither Kevin, nor Bob are fans of most of what apple had to announce - but Bob expressed some interest in one of the new streaming services.
We also talked a little about a new Netflix show all in Russian and about sex bots... that was interesting! Oh, and we cannot forget AlienStock, also known as the new Fyre Festival :)
As always let us know what you think of the show by hitting us up on the tweeters!
Seriously... DO IT!
Love always, Bob and Kevin

In this episode, Bob & Kevin discuss a planned neighborhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada being proposed by Alphabet (formerly Google) subsidiary, Sidewalk Labs. We discuss both the technological and non-tech innovations that are being proposed and discussed. It actually gets a little intense when Bob & Kevin discuss the application of the word 'utopia'. In addition to Quayside, we discuss new Twitter, a recent podcast from Land of the Giants (https://pca.st/V7d9) on the topic of the rise of Amazon Alexa and where the future may be. We wrap up the episode going over the list of all the companies that make up Alphabet - https://abc.xyz . Well, we really wanted to have three topics for this episode, but wow, did we have too much fun discussing this new, and frightening crypto development around Facebook! We kicked off the episode discussing all the new smart home security tech that Kevin is putting into his new house and we fully intended to talk about podcast tech and other pods that we like and or dislike and why... but we totally got carried away discussing Libra. Take a look at one of the articles we were referencing https://techcrunch.com/2019/06/18/facebook-libra/ while listening and let us know how you think this will all play out! We also gave some quick hits on the block chain while discussing this new crypto currency - https://www.ibm.com/case-studies/large-financial-services-company

The latest episode of the Bob & Kevin Show can best be summed up by the following quote:
"I have a foreboding of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time — when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and whats true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness. The dumbing down of America is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30-second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), the lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance."
- Carl Sagan 1995, The Demon-Haunted World

Join your favorite technology consumer advocates Bob & Kevin as they discuss Facebook giving us a real-time, Black Mirror prequel. Bob & Kevin also take a deep look at the "new monopoly" in tech, which is basically coming up with the most ubiquitous platform imaginable... hardware, software, original content... you know, what Apple is trying to become with the release of their fill in the blank plus original content platform. Oh, wow, guess what, this is also straight out of a potential Black Mirror prequel... have you seen 'Nosedive'? or watched our YouTube episode - https://youtu.be/wX-_GNGZXG8 ?

Oh, boy... naming this episode was so TOUGH! We had quite a few discussions that contained some very interesting analogies and comparisons... so name options were abundant! Long time followers of the program will know that this is typically the time of year where we cover the CES show, and we did not stray from that topic this week. We discussed how some of the new tech is not all that new (big shock) about 4k and now 8k video (ugh) and how the XPS laptop camera is finally where all the other webcams of the world are positioned on laptops. Oh, and you know we rip on facebook, google, amazon and the other tech giants. We also discuss this new piece of exercise gear - https://www.mirror.co/

I wish we could say we were sorry for the click bait, but one of the topics we covered tonight was the dropdown menu for gender. You will have to listen to the episode to hear how we covered it, but trust us... it is something worthy of discussion. We also discussed how our combined journalistic talents are on par with the rest of the world of tech news, in our humble opinions... LOL
As always, give it a listen and let us know what you think! Until next week...

In episode 23, Bob & Kevin discuss a weight loss challenge they have created together and the technology that each of them will use to achieve their goals! They discussed My Fitness Pal and some other apps along the way. You will have to listen to the episode to get the details of the challenge, the rewards, and the penalties! We also discussed Amazon HQ 2.0 and signalR technology.

We jump back into it this week after both of us have been crazy at work, traveling all over, and just dealing with everything that life has been throwing at the two of us the past couple of weeks. Don't worry, we still talk about twitter and facebook... we even discuss the new facebook video calling thingy??? What the heck is that all about anyway. Not gonna lie, we are both a little out of practice and we even forgot to really start AND end the episode... so, we hope you enjoy this completely raw and barely edited, very special episode. As always, feel free to hit us up on twitter (https://twitter.com/bobandkevinshow) and let us know what you think of the episode. Have a great week!

We had so much fun with this episode! We discussed everything from Dependency Injection, to the Surfacebook 2 and pretty much everything in between. If you are interested in learning Bob's & Kevin's thoughts on many current TV shows and more, this is the episode for you! We talk Westworld, House of Cards, Game of Thrones and Silicon Valley. As usual, please let us know what you want to hear more of, or less of... and be sure to rate us on Apple Podcasts if you can... Thanks!

Rumors of our death have been greatly exagerated! Bob and Kevin are back and we decided to take on a super simple topic this week - er, NOPE! Bob and Kevin debate what it means to Keep It Simple Stupid when it comes to code and project architecutre. We also discuss Pull Request etiquette and a standardization of process in Open Source Libraries. Finally, we breeze though some current events in tech and weigh in on them. Lots of debate in this episode :)
